It's very common for young boys who are going through puberty to have some swelling or enlargement of the breast tissue under the nipple. This is the case for about 70 percent of adolescent boys. It usually occurs on both sides, although it can occur on just one breast. The cause is the hormonal changes that occur during adolescence.
Both boys and girls have breast tissue.
Male breast cancer is a rare cancer that forms in the breast tissue of men. Though breast cancer is most commonly thought of as a disease that affects women, breast cancer does occur in men. Men diagnosed with male breast cancer at an early stage have a good chance for a cure.
